The housing estates of Czech Republic cast their shadows long and wide, standing guard like sentinels of a bygone era. Countering it is a knee-jerk effort to humanise the inhuman scale of these monoliths - an ambition to make these ‘rabbit hutches’ less anonymous and more alive. But these corrective measures – in the form of recreational, cultural and aesthetic add-ons – only add greater absurdities of scale. Because valiant as these efforts are, more often than not, they must surrender to the giants at whose feet they protest.
